Welcome to the January Newsletter

The start of a new year usually brings the same questions; will it be a better year than last and what do we expect to happen? I think on both counts we have reasons to be positive. The ‘big freeze’ apart, the final quarter of 2009 gave, what we believe, a good indicator to what we can expect in 2010.

With the expectations of a slow but gradual improvement in the general economy we envisage an increased demand for our Consultancy services along with more of our customers adopting the new software releases. With more adopters of the latest releases we can expect more feedback which assists us with ongoing development of the system.

We will be launching a series of Management tools under the JIMS banner (JAVELIN Informed Management Summary) shortly which will complement the software and provide customized information and reports for management. These tools will be provided via the JAVELIN website allowing customers to review the various report options available, select and pay online with the minimum of fuss. Access to this section of the website will be restricted to customers of JAVELIN only. I will provide full details of the exciting development closer to the release date.

We have maintained our ‘User Day Seminars’, which have proven popular. The last seminar was held at our Bath offices on 20th Jan and proved to be a great success. These seminars allow us to meet with customers and provide an overview of the latest release plus review some areas of the system that some customers may not be taking full advantage of. We will keep you informed of any future seminars taking place.

For those who visit our website frequently, you will have noticed the changes and new layout over the past 12 months. We plan to continue this development via our Admin and Marketing personnel in 2010 and as well as system information we will have up to date information on training courses, user events, remote support and general contact info.

We are pleased to announce the next round of JAVELIN Training programs. We have the following programs being run over the coming months:

The above courses will take place at our training facility at the JAVELIN offices in Enderby, Leics.

Training on JAVELIN meets several criteria:

• Understanding new areas of JAVELIN

• Enhancing current workflows, leading to improved efficiency and productivity

• Bringing new starters up to speed

• Refreshing existing skills and complimenting Consultancy Days

As always, our experienced Consultants will be on hand to put all delegates through the programs, assisting your personnel to realize the full potential of your JAVELIN investment.

JAVELIN Informed Management Systems (JIMS)

As mentioned in the introduction we are preparing to launch the JIMS toolkit upon the JAVELIN user base. Those that attended our user day conference in October last year have already seen a preview of this exciting new management tool but for the uninitiated a typical screen shot of a ‘fully loaded’ system is shown below.

Each graphical display is an individually generated summary of information from the JAVELIN database. Users can define a combination of a number of these as elements of a master ‘Dashboard’. Typically the average PC screen will comfortably accommodate 4 x 3 single modules without the need to scroll, (a combination of double and single modules are shown above), but there is no physical limit. Neither is there a limit to the number of Master displays operating alongside a particular JAVELIN system. So sites may have one for Business critical KPIs, one for Work in Progress information and a third as an overall Management summary.

Modules will be available for viewing and purchase via our website under a secure access. Each order will be configured to request and despatched via email. Should the desired report not be available then the same website can be utilized to register a request for future development. Based on such requests and other feedback new summaries will be added to the website on a regular basis.

There are no licensing limitations on JIMS screens themselves so as many work stations as desired can run a particular summary. However each PC will require a Pervasive license and also the latest version of Datalink viewer (Datalink Viewer R12). Existing Datalink viewers can be upgraded on request via Helpdesk and further licenses can also be purchased via the website. Configuration facilities within this version of Datalink Viewer software allow continuous display of the JIMS screen with a user defined refresh rate as well as screen sizing and display options.
